KL, as it's known locally, or Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia and once sat
snuggled between the muddy confluence of the Gombak and Klang Rivers, from
where it gets its name, is now a bustling metropolis that no longer plays
second fiddle to rivals such as Singapore. Today Kuala Lumpur has cutting edge world-famous
architecture like the Petronas Towers and the ultra-modern transit system. But
despite all this, KL retains all its old charms and many traditional buildings,
narrow side streets and open air marketplaces.
So, although Kuala Lumpur is
very much a 21st Century city, which is the first impression one
gets on arriving at KLIA (KL International Airport) , there is a wealth of
culture and surprises to be discovered in the city if humble origins that is
still largely indifferent to tourism yet welcoming at its heart.
